Extending a subclip

Ever wanted to extend the beginning or end of a subclip on the timeline?

Just reverse the subclip and then un-reverse it. The un-reversed subclip can be extended on either end as if it was just a regular event piece of the original media.

(select both the video and audio when reversing, otherwise only the video will be extensible while the audio will loop)

(of course you might wonder if this is a "bug" or a "feature" of subclips... ;-)

D-C, that is a tremendous tip!! - I've recently found flicking between 4:3 and 16:9 on properties that I can get back a pasted 16:9 event format. I'm wondering if this is not also a "backdoor" too?

Anyway, this is truly truly valuable. I can see somebody making an "ExtendSubclip" script - neat as a Toolbar Icon - yeah?

Funny how the Trimmer "revert" option was recently posted by ForumAdmin too.

Man!

I'm in the middle of a recapture right now (footage from two years ago--thank god for logs and Vegie Toolkit!) but I'll try it when I finish. Really valuable tip.

ExtendSubclip - should be there anyway. I change my mind all the time.

Okay, I just tried it. What it's actually doing is reverting to the parent clip. It also dumps any media FX you've applied to the subclip.

Still, for many uses this is a fine. It gets you past the hard ends of a subclip.

Thanks Douglas!
