extending last image

probably a simple task .. but can't find out how ...
For example I have a video event ... and I want to use the last image on the track as a 'freeze frame' and run it for several seconds.

i.e video track runs .. and when it gets to what would have been 'last frame' it then continues and runs this last frame for 'x seconds'

I know I can simply drag the end of event to increase time but that loops whole event .... how do I 'increase' the last frame.

Not as simple as it should be, but here it goes. Go to the frame you want to 'freeze' > in the preview window, set the preview to 'Best'>'Full' > then click the 'Save Snapshot to File' icon in the preview window. Once you have it, you can stretch it to any length of time you need. Cin

If it is indeed the very last frame of your source file that you want to freeze on, you can right-click on the event on the timeline, select "Switches", then untick the "Loop" attribute. Instead of restarting at the beginning of the clip when you stretch the end out, it will simply keep repeating the very last frame of the clip.

But it's probably pretty rare that the end of the event is actually the true end of the source file, so OMG's advice is the normal way to accomplish a freeze frame in Movie Studio. Be sure to heed the "Best/Full" advice in order to make sure your snapshot is saved in its best quality and full resolution.

If your freeze frame has motion in it, you may get some interlacing "comb" artifacts. You can right click on the saved frame (on the timeline) and select "Switches" >> "Reduce Interlace Flicker". You might also try momentarily setting the project properties to Progressive *before* saving the still frame (then setting back to interlaced after the frame has been saved).
