external device; turn table to media pool

How do I get the music from my records to the media pool?
Sonic stage shows external device/media not found. the stereo unit ( citizen DLX) is plugged in the line in of the vaio pc.
I can record the radio station or a record on the windows recorder, but can't figure out how to record my own records to the hard drive ...
I ran out of CD music.... for the travel movies....and the 20 seconds from the recorder won't do....
Thanks

I don't know whether Sonic Stage can record from line-in. I use RIP Vinyl for copying my old LPs. It breaks the LP (or tape) into individual tracks and saves them as wavs or mp3s. It's also very cheap ($7) and there's a demo version.

Isn't a turntable different from other devices from a "line-in" perspective? Its been so long since I used one, but I seem to remember that, although it used the same RCA connectors, my old amps always had a specific connection point for turntables - and it was NOT just a matter of labeling.....

I was assuming the stereo's line-out was being used - the output direct from a cartridge wouldn't be enough.

Thank you.... I got RIP Vynil...it works.... I plugged the stereo system output to the Line in of the Pc.... easy, simple... I have not tried to render yet, to check on the sound.... but I am hopeful.... Thanks again to IanG and DJCC.

I've had reasonable success using Acoustica to clean up recordings. You're not going to get studio quality, but it's plenty good enough for my old ears.
