External Free Codecs

Hi to all.
First of all sorry if this has been asked before but I wasn't able to find the answer via forum searches.
Is it possible to uninstall MainConcept Plugin and Sony Mp3 plugin in order to use another (maybe freeware) codecs for that kind of files?
I really want to uninstall them and find the way to use the codecs I prefer.

no -- you would have to frame serve out ...

but the internal mp3 encoder i think is really good

I agree, the mp3 encoder is by all accounts the best of the bunch, it is a licenced copy of the Fraunhoffer (hope I spelled that right) encoder. We use it regularly for paying jobs.

can't you just add codecs to Vegas?
