External Hard Drive Problem

Any workaround for this???

I captured on one computer on to an external hard drive labeled F, now I moved that drive to another computer which labels it H. I can't see the captured video footage from vidcap because its looking for drive F.

On the new drive H is my DVD, should I just change my DVD drive label? Is there another way to make vidcap see the new drive label?

Thanks,
Gil

You can:
1. Search for media in Vegas, and it will find it on the new drive.
2. Go to computer management, and reallocate the required drive letter of the new/external drive.

Either method works in most cases.

dont forget to use teh "safely remove hardware" feature in windows and also, most HDD manfucaturers have now released "spindown" apps which will spin down external drives prior to shut down

I just lost a volume info index on one of my externals and its taken me 3 days to work out a way to salvage the renderd files (were talking 26hrs worth of rendering)
All attempts to rebuild the volume index failed, the only solution was a program called getdataback for ntfs

this drive letter issue happened here as well, but ntil i finish tis project, i wont be changing anything..
at the moment im salvaging about 80gb worth of work..

just pray that ur file system remains intact.. it should but its an idea to make a copy of the volume once youve got ur drive ready for shutdown..
