External Monitor

I've attempted to use my external TV monitor, I get the following message on my computer monitor...Preview on external monitor, (Frame recompressed). But all I get on my TV monitor is the blue image generated from the camera. Any ideas? please.

your 99% of the way there, there is a signal going to your TV.

VV needs to be the foreground application, try making sure the devices are connected and working prior to starting VV and check that the display device is connected to the 1394 port recognized by VV.

Also make sure your cam can accept DV in if you are in Europe and that it is enabled and configured correctly.

Hi Desk,

Is "recompress edited frames" checked in the Options>Preferences>Video device?

Are you previewing a straight DV clip? You might try pre-rendering a few seconds if you have a few FX going on.

It should show picture on the external and the preview window should only say "preview on external monitor".

Don't ask me why, but after switching the "Preview external monitor" button several times, it now works. Thanks for your help everyone.
