External monitor causing crashes

For some reason, my external monitor hookup is causing repeated crashes.

I'm going firewire out to Sony Media Converter (DVMC-DA2) in, analog out to monitor.

I'm 99% sure I have the correct settings selected in the Preview Device tab.

It works for a few moments, then freezes up, and crashes. (UPDATE: Now, it won't even work for a few moments. I'm getting these odd flashing 'puzzle piece' looking things intermixed with my video. - very odd.)

Has anyone seen this?

What version of VMS do you own? Not all version support multiple screens. Check the feature sheet of vms to find out.

I actually figured it out. It was a firewire connection issue.
