External Monitor/Firewire Question

Just started using VV4, have only messed with old analog tapes/home movies. I'll be purchasing a Dv Camcorder soon.
Question: I know I can use the firewire oport on my SB Audigy to capture the video from the new DV Camcorder, but will it also work for pass through to an external monitor? Or do I have to get a different firewire card?

Thanks for any help.

I use the same firewire port for Capturing AND to send to External Monitor. Remember, you will not get audio coming with it. You need to use the audio card/port to external loudspeakers for this - yeah? The real nub of your question, I think, is that you need to convert that DV signal back to AV. Does your Capture card convert back to AV? I guess that is your question. Personally, and IMHO, I can't imagine a Capture card not working in reverse too!

Now, something else you may wish to consider is that you potentially could use the new DV cammy as your DV>AV convertor. I've done this with my Canon XM2. It works. You may wish to throw this in the specifacation when you come to purchasing new DV cammy - yeah?

Regards,

Grazie

Hi, I am looking the front of my Audigy panel and see no video outs. You may want to get a 50$ Pyro 1394 card if you plan to add firewire hard drives.

Well, no vid outs on the Audigy, but there's a 1394- that's the question. Can I use that?
