External Monitor Problem, need help !!!!

Hy all,

We need to work with Vegas Video using an external monitor
but we can't make it work in any way.
The setup is a PIII PC with a Matrox RT2000 card.
The video media is capture with Adobe Premier 5.1 witch
comes with the RT2000 card using the Matrox codec ( Matrox
DV4:2:0 ). When I try to play it in Vegas I dont se
anything on the external monitor in both cases:

1. The preview is set to the IEE-1394 out , using the same
settings for the project etc..the IE-1394 out is conected
to a Sonny DSR 20P VCR and the monitor out from that VCR is
conected to an analog TV monitor

2. The preview is set to windows video and the monitor is
conected to the RT2000 S-Video out.( of course the same
codec is used selected for the preview as the video media )

My question is is there any chance to have an external
monitoring with RT2000 from Vegas ? If yes , how ?
Thanks for your help

Andrei

Sorry, the RT2000 is not supported. It does have "1394-
like" features, but it is not fully OHCI compatible, which
Vegas requires.

You can use any of the commonly available OHCI-compatible
DV cards- these will cost you less than $100.

Boy I don't understand too much about all this IEEE 1394 or
OHCI Complient stuff with video cards, but this sure does
remind me of the same posts from Cd architecture and MMC
Compatible devices and that got abandoned because SF
couldn't keep up with the driver support. So do we have
the same problem with Vegas and we can eventually look
forward to another abondonment?

Rock on!!!

One significant reason we have focused on OHCI DV cards is
because the drivers are part of the OS. This keeps 3rd
party drivers out of the mix and also keeps the card
support from breaking every time there is an OS update.

Can anyone in this thread tell me if they've gotten
the "External Monitor Preview" function to work with Win
98SE. Someone told me it works w/Win2000 but not 98SE. Is
this a VV version specific problem ?? Am using an OHCI
compliant 1394 card. Thanks

It works on my Thinkpad 770Z with Win98SE through a RATOC
CardBus 1394 interface to my Sony GV-D900.

Please make sure you are using 2.0b (free update). External
monitor definitely works in 98SE-
