External Monitor Resolution

Greg_S wrote on 1/19/2012, 2:58 PM
On the Video Preview on External Monitor, my project resolution is 1920x1080x128 29.970i, the preview is 480x270x128 29.970p, and the display is 695x391x32. When I preview the clip on my external monitor the resolution makes the preview quality really bad. Is there any way I can change the display res to the same as my project res?

Your external monitor and video card has to be capable of 1920 x 1080 x 128. I haven't heard of any that would go to 128 yet. But I could be wrong in this day and age of technical advancements coming faster than I can type.

Where did the 128 bit media come from? Just curious.

The OP must be using 32-bit project properties: (R+G+B)x32 + Alphax32 = 128 bits. But of course this is informational only; the real bit depth displayed on the monitor is just 8 bits per color (unless he has a very high quality graphics subsystem, where both the card and monitor at dual DVI or DP support 10bit color).

As to the resolution, if only the monitor is capable of 1920x1080 and with most (if not all) modern cards supporting it, I really have no idea why so strange pixel counts... Are you using the Secondary Windows Display, or simply dragged the Vegas Preview Monitor window over to the external monitor?

The second monitor is simply for preview purposes, the actual vegas window stays on the desktop. Is there any option to simply just change the resolution in the display window? Because since the resolution is low on the vegas screen, when you preview it on the second monitor it looks low quality.
