Do any of you us an external monitor to preview your edits? If so what brand and model do you use? Also does it preview clear? I don't have one and would like to get one.
-----------------------
I use a Commodore 1084s 14" with S-video (YC) input. I've got a few from my toaster systems. Most of my editing is done via twin view S-video output from my Geforce2 MX video card. This gives a higher framerate than external monitor-OHCI output. Plus I can drop to 360x240 res. on layered stuff to check timing.
With a flip of a external YC switcher, I see the OHCI external monitor ouput thru my Sony camera. I use that for checking jitter in graphics.

I am not as soffisticated as most of the replies. When I need calibration etc I go to a post bay. At home I output firewire to my sony Cam and then output from it to a 12" color TV, Price $50. Granted I can't check for NTSC bar calibration, but I can check graphic jitter, safe zones and bloom.

I am producer not an engineer JIM.
