I would like to use the SMCWMR-AG Mulimedia Receiver to view my video editing in "realtime" on my TV that sits 25 feet across my living room directly opposite my PC.
Can the Vegas 5.0 external monitor feature be networked to the mentioned above SMC wireless receiver, then output to a TV located 25 feet away?
I asked SMC Tech support. They said the SMCWMR-AG Wireless Receiver was designed to use their SMC Media Server software to play back A/V files (e.g. MPEG-1, MPEG2) and Internet streaming A/V from Internet Radio to a Home Theater A/V system for TV, or Audio.
I am somewhat not convinced yet. I see a possibility for the following connections described below to work, however, playback through Vegas 5.0 as a substitute for the SMC Media Server software is still an unknown work around. It may take hours for trial and error. I am wondering if someone has already accomplished this task.
Here is how I would attempt to do this but I don't know if it would work.
I would set up a software Network Bridge on Windows XP Professional running on my PC. This network bridge would connect my Lan PCI 10/100 Ethernet together with my Firewire PCI.
Then, I would specify my Video External Device in my Sony Vegas Software to output on my OHCI Firewire network connection. In theory, the Network Bridge would connect to my Lan 10/100 Ethernet connection. At the other end of this 10/100 Ethernet connection will be the SMC2304WBR-AG Wireless Router. The Router would then transmit to the SMCWMR-AG Multimedia Receiver. This Receiver would be attached to my TV via my Home Theater Receiver.
Can the above connections work?
I have a concern about the SMC Media Server software. I know that it requires the files to be viewed and played already in the correct media format (e.g. MPG2) that is stored in a PC directory.
So, I know that I can't use this Media Server software to play in "Realtime" from my described above Sony Vegas software that is playing through my OHCI Firewire network connection.
So, can I just not use the Server software and let the Sony Vegas software control the playing of my "realtime" edited video through the Firewire Network bridged to the Ethernet Network attached to the Wireless Router that transmits the signal to the Multimedia Receiver?
If the above isn't doable then I have one effective recourse to view my edits not in "realtime" but in the MPEG2 format that I will painstakingly have to create each time I want to see my video edits on a TV screen through the SMC Media Server softare. This is not so good but might be the only way to save time other than creating a DVD each time which is even more time consuming.
Someone might say why don't you just get an external monitor and avoid all the hassle. I don't have the room in my crowded living room for another monitor. So, I want to try the actual viewing on a TV of where the final A/V Authoring will be viewed when my project is completed.
Thank you for your time in reading the above. I hope that you can help me.
Sincerely,
Intuition
