External preview from iMac

Okay, so I've got the mini-DVI to HDMI plugged into a 22" HDTV from my iMac. When I turn on the external preview in Vegas, it works, but it keeps going black and resetting itself. Very annoying. I've checked all the plugs and cables, and even tried different ones. Then I tried using a SD TV via mini-DVI to RCA. Same thing. Any ideas? Thanks.

Somebody? Anybody? Give an old guy a hand, here. I called Apple Support and they told me to use the mirror display function on the Mac side, but they didn't know what to tell me about how to make it work right on the Windows side.

This sounds like a similar situation I observed on my MacBook. A recent Apple update targeted and fixed this problem for both OS X and Windows/Bootcamp. You may want to check that your OS X is up to date. I am on 10.6.2 and the problem, very annoying before, is completely gone.
