External preview is white screen

I am trying to view preview on an external Samsung TV by HDMI cable, I have screen set to extend and I can see my desk top when not in Vegas Pro, but when it turn on external preview, the external Samsung TV only produces a white screen. I swap the function and put the Pro program on the TV and used the laptop as the external preview and I get a white screen on the laptop. The lap top is a Dell SRS.

Are your settings good in Options/Preferences/Preview Device?
Read the manual for the best settings and install the latest or best drivers for the used adaptor.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be that my main monitor was running off windows generic graphics card while my 2nd monitor was working on my NVidia graphics card. I updated the bios (which happened to be a recommended update at teh time, and it cleared it right up (along with a few other non-related issues)
