External Storage

Need some advise. What do you use for additional storage ?

I bought WD My Book Essential 2TB some time ago.It turns out it automatically and continously copies any and all data (for protection) however, I am interested in a 'simple' storage add-on to free my computer and where I can drag and drop all my movies including its "raw" versions with all its editing elements saved in case (later) adjustments are needed - without having to have anything of the same nature stored on my computer.
Appreciate your advise.

You can change that device to not automatically back up your files.
Most people choose to manually back up only what they want, when they want.
You can use your Windows options to either Copy or Move files to your external device.

Thats what I thought but I cant find / dont know how to change.
I was able to limit the number of backups to 1. Thats about it.

Would WD Elements Desktop External Hard Drive would do the job ? There they talk about drag and drop.
Is there any recommendation on other manufacturers ?

The simplest way is to first copy any files you want to keep onto another drive, then reformat the WD drive using Windows Right Click / Format, then you can replace what you want, this time without any auto-back up.
