extracting audio from VOB

mavrix wrote on 1/25/2005, 1:27 PM
I have an unprotected client DVD that I was able to copy the VOB files over to my HD. Upon dropping the VOB file into the Vegas timeline, the video plays fine and I can render it out. However, no audio is transferred when I drag and drop. If any of you could enlighten me as to how to extract the audio I would be really thankful.

Thanks in advance,

Rob

I use AC3Dec and it works great for getting the audio back. Converts the AC3 to a wave file.

should also mention there are several commercial products that work very well

#1 DVD Audio Ripper http://www.dvdtox.com/dvdaudioripper.htm

DVD Audio Ripper http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-audio-ripper.html

B_JM:
Could you walk us through that procedure - 'save audio as a stream'?

I dowloaded Decrypter, enabled streaming (sorry, I forget the exact wording in the dialog box), have tried clicking both audio and video buttons, and also tried both separately.

Everything is sent to the video_TS folder. If I check "demux" I get MPEG2 video files in addition to the VOB files. I'm not certain what I can do with those MPEG2 files (they won't load into vegas - I can load them or the VOB's into DVDA3, but there is still no audio. I must be missing something.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

DVD Audio Extractor or a simular tool may be easier for you but DVD Decrypt. is also quite simple to use ..

use this guide to extract just the audio stream
