I just wish to get a video file from a VCD, including the audio.
It must be possible, right? But how?
I can't find any thread regarding that matter with the search mode.
I don't have a VCD handy at the moment to try this, but i've heard that the .DAT file is simply an MPEG-1 file. Copy this to your hard drive and rename it with a .mpg extention. If not, i'm sure someone will tell me how wrong i am ;)
Chienworks is right. Copy the AVSEQxx.DAT files (that's your video) from the MPEGAV folder of your VCD onto your computer, for instance into My Documents, then go into Tools>Folder Options>View and UNcheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types." Then, just rename the AVSEQxx.DAT to YourFileName.MPG, and you'll have an MPEG file you can then import into Vegas or just play.
