Extremely long import times

I am importing video mpg's 720-480 into my project and my program seems like it is choking on the import process. I have not ever had this problem. Does anyone have any idea of why this could be happening. Essentially I am just adding clips to my project by using the import media option and selecting a clip and choosing open. I used to import dozens of HD clips at a time, now I cannot even import 1 SD file without having the software practically shut down, the software goes into a state where it says that it is unresponsive, and then it finally comes back and selects the clip so I can import it. This happens by just clicking on the media to import. I have tried moving the footage to another drive with same results.

What are the MPEG files coming from and have you imported files from this source before without issue?

Try it with your Virus S/W turned off.

Thank you Steve,

I figured out this only happend when the original MPEG files were imported via import DVD camcorder. Those files take forever to open in another .veg that they were not originally imported into to. Once again, thanks for your reply, and if there is anything I could help you with please contact me.
