If I understand you correctly, yes it can be done. Add the blackk and white FX. Keyframe and blend amount to a gradual black and white.

I know you said no transitions, but you COULD just cut the piece, change the second piece to B/W, and then do a normal crossfade.

Well, well, well - here you got three very different methods, all valid, all easy to do. All perfectly meeting your requirements. That says a lot about Vegas, but also about this forum. They're both great.

I haven't tried this, but I believe I read somewhere that it's better to use the b/w filter than to screw with the color settings- I believe it effects the render time...
