How did you capture them? Also, how are you rendering them? In other words, avi to avi? Sharp and clear during edit, or sharp and clear on the old VCR?

actually, the colors are in pictures i make in adobe photoshop for backgrounds, im rendering them to .wmv format at 3mpbs. They are sharp and clear during preview in the lower right hand corner but faded after rendering.

When you say the image is sharp and clear during preview in the lower hand corner that suggests you're previewing off a computer monitor NOT a external monitor. The color schemes for computer monitors and television are different. If your final viewing medium is going to be TV, you need to color adjust using an external monitor. The best way is via a firewire card, feed to a digital camera that has pass-through or a similar device then either the camera or device feeds the external monitor.

Well it sounds like something is happening during the rendering. What codec and settings are you using?

What you could try is a little before and after test.

Add a new track. Drag and drop gradient from the Media Generator tab so you can access that color picker eyedropper.

Sample of large area of white or near white in the before and after rendering. Have the track you drop the gradient on away from the portion of video you test so it don't block out the track underneath.
