Faded Edges on Superimposed Clips

I don't know if there are any terms for this, so I'll just have to describe it.

I have two video clips. I want to superimpose part of one over the other. So I used pan/crop to get the portion of the clip I wish to superimpose, and then I used track motion to position it. And finally, I reduced the opacity so that you can see through it.

I would like to make the edges of the superimposed portion transparent - so that it doesn't just look like a box superimposed over the main clip.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

Guitard

If you use the cookie cutter effect you can have a feathered border. This is probably what you are looking for. You'll have to make sure the border starts far enough inside the physical boundries of the inset image so that the feather is complete before it hits the outer edge.
