Fader Automation

New to Vegas and I want to know if fader automation can be set up so the fader stays at the last level it was at when you let go of it. As it is, when you release a fader in the "touch" mode, it cruises back to 0 db, or where ever it was last....thanks!

Put automation in Latch mode vs touch mode. That'll fix you right up.

Add audio or video envelopes instead. More finite control. Or record your moevements and then tweak the envelope.

If I could ask just one more newbie question...can I set up a session to automatically name sound files recorded into it as variations of the session name? Like "carspot1, carspot2", etc.. Stopping to name each file as you record them can get a little tedious...

Yes. Name the tracks first, and each take will reflect the track name plus a number.
If you have Ultimate S, it will set up to 99 tracks with prebuilt names and any other default features you'd like to have. If you don't...then you get to name each track independently, or save a bunch of veg files as "templates."
