Fading Adjustment

There was a statement from ForumID=4&MessageID=233335 saying "Tip: If you make a timeline selection the length of your fade (e.g., 1 second) it’s easier to snap all the fades to happen at exactly the same time and duration."

Question is how do you do this? The only way I see to make a crossfade or fade offset is to manually adjust the clip. How can I make it more precise such as 1 sec or 1.5 sec very quickly? And, is there a way to adjust several fade offsets (or crossfades) between pictures at the same time to this new amount of 1 sec or 1.5 secs?

Thanks so much guys!

When you make the transition, just double-click it and you will create a "selection" around that transition. In the lower right hand of the timeline you will see three boxes with timecode - the right-most one is the "length" of the selection. Double-click that and type in the desired length OR adjust the size of the selection (by clicking on the handles above the timeline) and watch until the proper length has been selected. You can then adjust the transition itself to match the selection area giving you an exact length.

Thanks so much!

Let's say my crossfade between 2 clips is 1 sec. Can I adjust the transition length between 2 clips automatically once I have my timeline selection of say 2 secs? Or, do I have to manually move the clips to line up with the selection ends?

Can you repeat this process for a whole video track with several pics?

thanks again!

Manual, and yes.

However, if you have a series of clips and you want them to ALL be overlapped 1 second, check out Gap Wizard in Excalibur.

I think jetdv has become the foremost Vegas mind, maybe better even than Douglas. When's your book / DVD's coming out, Edward? You ARE da man!
