Fading Between 2 Video Tracks?

Can someone give me the best ideas for comping between two vid tracks.
I have a two camera project that I have synced on the desktop via he wave files. I know I can cut out and move vid tracks into each other space but I done want to lose sync. So what is the best way to fade between vid tracks while keeping them on there own tracks?

Thanks in advance...
jb

Read my Multi-Cam article in the Vegas TTS Newsletter. Explains multiple methods to accomplish this task.

I did this with a 4 hour, four camera shoot and I just split the upper track to reveal what was below and then adjusted the upper clip length to an appropriate point. Similarly for the lower tracks. This way you're always in sync.
Two VERY handy tricks here-
1. I used Tsunami to selkect all tracks to the right of and below the cursor. Very fast and simple - no sync loss when sutting sections
2. I now use VV5 and LOVE the "select clip end" buttons. Choose either the left or right end of yor clip then use the jog ring to preciselly alter the length of the clip.
Hope this helps

I use the Excalibur scripts. What used to take me all night, I do in just over an hour. The work flow is: watch all multi-tracks simultaneously on an external monitor. Switch between tracks with a single keystroke plus type in a couple of letters. When done, it automatically creates a new video track with all the selected clips on it... therefore, no splitting or cutting and pasting of tracks! Then, I adjust the transitions to taste. And that's pretty much it.

If the audio ever goes out of sync, there is a script to resync to video track. And if the audio clips and video clips ever get "orphaned", there's a script to bring them back together.

A demo and free trial version is at:

I can't imagine doing multi-cam editing without it. Its like night and day.

Good luck, David
