You didn't mention if you were looking for a laptop or desktop (or needed a monitor) but I ran across an Intel i7-3770 based HP Pavilion this weekend at Sam's Club that is (what I think) a great price at $899. It has a Radeon HD 7750 instead of an Nvida based video card, but it's a pretty decent one.

BTW, it's just the computer with keyboard and mouse -- no monitor.

It's running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, but Microsoft will only charge $15 to upgrade to 8 Pro when released if you feel you need it.

I'm using 9, but I have licenses for 10 and 11.

I hadn't considered a notebook since I assume they would be more expensive.

I probably would carry over my monitor and just upgrade the computer.

I just bought my son an AMD A8 / Radeon based HP laptop for about $500. I chose it because these days most of the Intel based laptops also have integrated Intel graphic which suck for video editing and video games (his two passions). A computer with integrated graphic won't even run the "Hit Film" software he uses for special effects.

Anyway, the AMD A8 rocks. I am blown away by the performance. For GPU accelerated stuff it is maybe 90% of the speed of an Intel / nVidia combo for about half the price.
