Fast and dirty method ....

Might be inventing the wheel here but thought I'de sahre this for what-ever it's worth: I make transitionalized and FX edited events like this: hit "S" where I want it to start and then "S" again at the end. Drag it up onto a new track expand it to a good sized larger than it's original occupancy - play with it using what-ever FX etc. then drop it back into the original track - let's me test the lenght of the transition etc without having ti fuddle with the adjoining tracks.
Am I cool or just a simple idiot? :-)

Well...if it works for you, it works. For me, I'd prefer to just create a looping region that contains my transition by double clicking the X point of the transition, and then dropping/tweaking different transitions/FX on that segment, watching it preview in realtime either externally or internally.

Opps, you see you lost me there! Totally! I start with no transition but am creating a new segment or as we call it in Vegas, "Event" this I create by hitting "s" at the appropriate/desired locations - so is this then my "X point" of which you speak?

I see by double clicking on a existing event it will loop/Selelct that event entirely - that simple movement I didn't know - Thanks! :-)

"S" means Split. The "X" he's referring to is the transition. Stretch out the timeline and you will see that it looks like the letter "X".
