Faster Rendering Questions

Kinda new to Vid production. Wanted to know...

1- best res and format for fast rendering of still images (jpeg/gif/bmp?)(780x420?)

2- does it help to pre-render audio separately into a format that doesnt have to be recompressed in the final DVD compliant render

3- does rendering to mpeg2 format happen quicker if the original clips are captured in mpeg2 format.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanx

If they are not pan/cropped, and just static, 720x480 is fine. Zooming would recommend that you double resolution. png, tga render fastest, but not by much.

That's what the AC3 encoder in Vegas is for, just this. Render video to M2v and the audio to AC3, you'll be done.

No. Vegas will recompress all MPEG2 files that have been edited on the timeline, and therefore costs render time.

If the still images are from a digital camera or scans from a computer, they are based on square pixels and they must be cropped to 720x528 (or some multiple of 720x528) so that the correct aspect ratio will be maintained in Vegas for DV or DVD output.
