Definate agreement with you on this one. Most VCRs allow up to 5x speed. 2x just doesn't do much.

Yes please, faster scubs!

I also would vote for that.

RT audio scrubs would be nice.

I'll vote for faster scrubs also, please.

So, today it's scrubs <g>.

The Vegas 3 audio engine is limited to +/- 2x analog scrubs, but the audio guys just told me the other day that the Vegas 4 audio engine will be able to go faster.

So, in Vegas 4, the scrub control, JKL scrub, and ShuttlePro scrub will all be able to go faster. I'm not sure what the new limit is, but hopefully it's more than 3x <g>.

There's also a chance we'll be able to go into digital scrub mode for speeds above the analog limit, and also when scrubbing / navigating while paused, but no promises yet.

SonicDennis-

I am referring to timeline RT scrubs ala Premiere/Storm. You can just grab the timeline and squiggle it around until you get your cue. That worked very well for me. With Vegas, I learned to zoom in and use the visual cue. Sometimes I also use start/stop and the arrow keys to advance/back up a couple of frames and get my cue.

For my own personal opinion, unless I get an RT timeline (cursor) scrub, my current method will not change. JKL does not fit my style.

Yes, I would like to put my cursor on the pointer (like in Premiere) and scurb to any point on the timeline---speed only dictated by the movement of the mouse. Anyhow, I was happy to hear from SonicDennis---that 4.0 will go faster---Once again Sonic Foundry shows you why it is the most consumer friendly company in the universe

Scrubbing by moving the curser by the mouse to give the speed of scrub would be nice , as in Ulead Meadia Studio, that way you can quickly scrub back and forth to get the right audio bit.

swarrine:

Are you looking for an analog-like cursor drag scrub (where you hear all the samples, but pitch is tied to speed of movement, like moving a tape back and forth across a play head), or a digital-style scrub where small sound snippets from the cursor location are played at normal speed, staccato style. I believe Premiere does the latter (digital scrub), and Sound Forge has something similar in the overview area above the waveform.

Analog-like would be my preference.

I am pretty sure that is how Storm/Premiere did it, however, I couldn't swear by it since I have not used Prem since I installed Vegas.

As a funny side note, we are building computers for a public access station - MPEG servers, Toaster II, 2 Storm/Premiere editing stations. Someone asked me how to do something in Premiere and I found that I have all but forgotten how to use it...
