Fastest Render for Previewing a work in Prog

I have about 13 minutes on the timeline. This includes 2 nested vegs and all of it is utilizing the z plane.
Without having to wait 12 + hours for it to render out to a wmv that is low quality, is there a way to render in say 3-4 hours so I can check the audio as well as the keyframe placements and actions?
I know render times depend on the system and mine is not top of the line, but that is not what I am asking. In general- what wrapper should I use and what settings should be utilized to get a quick render? I am not looking for quality of the picture- just want to make sure that the time syncs up and the keyframes look good.
Any suggestions?

The best "secret" is one I learned from Spot a few years back: Temporarily set your project resolution down low, and then render to a low resolution. I have found the Sony YUV to be really fast. 320x240 works pretty well, and is darned fast. Before you proceed on the whole video, try this on a 30-second section and compare it to a "normal" render to see if it makes a big enough difference, and if the resulting lower res video is sufficient for your needs.

Yup . .you've hit the brick wall. There comes a time when you realise that having added so much stuff, you are asking for a massive amount of maths to be executed.

You can shave/save time by making sure you haven't added FXs to Tracks and only to the event; get rid of redundant tracks that may be hiding Track Motion and generally prune and scrape stuff out you really don't need; be "mean" with only just the stuff you want to preview . . but at the end of the day, and you aren't packing unnecessary stuff into the preview, you've hit the bricks . . .

Go do something else . .. I normally come here; get on with "another" project; walk, stretch and generally take a break . .
