Favor audio sync when playing Variable Frame Rate (VFR) media?

Movie Studio 16 Platinum.....It appears to me 'Favor audio sync when playing Variable Frame Rate (VFR) media?' is a new Preferences > General tab option, that was not available in Movie Studio 15 and not available in Vegas Pro. It is not listed in the Help Files that I have found. Is this something that has been discussed and I missed? Does this have anything to do with providing better playback for VBR? Sorry if this is old stuff I bring up, but it is new to me.

Well spotted. I'd missed it as I suspect have many others as I cannot recall it being discussed.

I think in Vegas Pro 16 this is a default setting now (with no optional switch).

That leads me to wonder, why the option switch in Movie Studio, or, why not the option in Vegas Pro? Is the feature to help play and render variable frame rate media, or is the feature more audio oriented to keep sync with the media? Or, perhaps none of the above!
