FCP .mov files no video . . .

I'm using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro 9.0b Build 92. Another editor sent me DVCPRO HD files which they shot on their Panasonic, imported the .mxf files into FCP, and then sent me .mov files on a hard drive, which I transferred to my PC.

The audio plays, but the video has the "Stream attributes could not be determined" message. I've searched the forum for this problem, but didn't come up with any answers that didn't include going to Vegas Pro and buying Raylight to import the Panasonic .mxf files directly.

These .mov files will not play on QuickTime, either. So I assume this is a Windows/Vista problem?

Anyone have any answers? Is there a codec converter or plug-in for Platinum Pro that will get me through this?

Download MediaInfo and post all of your file details.
They may just need a codec, and conversion would be a last choice.

Like you, I didn't find much after going a dvhp google search. I think you need to go back to your editor friend and have them give you another file encoded with a diferent codec.

Panasonic's DVCPRO is unfortunately not supported directly in Vegas.

Either check into Raylight, which is a Vegas plugin specifically for these files, or get a more compatible print from your editor (MXF, AVI,?). Try some samples.

Is there any way to convert with a third-party app? Something stand alone that would simply grab the files and convert them outside of Vegas or any other editor?

I'll check with Panasonic and see . . .

I use TMPG for converting clips for both SV PRO and FCP I keep it in Mov. Container so you can transfer data between the two aps

I'm experiencing the same problem. I use Vegas Platinum 9 and .mov files I shot on a JVC GY-HM100U camera are not readable. The audio is there but there are nasty grey bars in varying thicknesses across the images on all the files.

I've learned that the mov files from the JVC camera can only be read by Final Cut - irritating - but I have tried all manner of solutions to convert. To no avail.
Changing the files to mp4, avi, mpeg, you name it... doesn't work.
Surefire converting software that has never let me down before... doesn't work.

Any help is appreciated.
