Feedback on Canopous DV Storm

Does anyone own the DV Storm? I went to the WEVA show in Chicago yesterday and saw the demo. I was pretty impressed with the real time editing and 0 time render. Well, when it came down to talking about price I must admit $1299.00 is a lot of change. Should I change cards? Im using a Sony DVMA-DA2 to capture and print to tape. Is it worth the extra money to upgrade? Any feed back would be appreciated!

I have a DVRaptor, and love it. However, with the advent of OHCI, and the insanely speedy processor speeds, proprietary 1394 cards are becoming somewhat out of date. Vegas Video only works with OHCI cards- which canopus does not make. It's unlikely that either canopus or vegas will have any support for each other in the near future (years).

However, canopus makes GREAT drivers for editing apps that support it (premiere, raptoredit/rexedit, media studio pro, Origin editDV). I prefer vegas video FAR above these other apps, however.

My bet is that with the constant speed in cpu speeds, within a year or so a LOT of the real time effects available on 'higher end' non ohci cards will be able to be done in software via Vegas.

If you do a lot of filters in DV the Storm is the way to go. Beautiful slo-mo too. Going to be a while before you can drop a color filter on your whole OHCI track and get it to play back in real time.
