field order - avi file

dear all,

im converting my edius timeline into an avi-file, selecting field order: lower/bottom field first.

when looking into the media properties of this avi file in dvda, the field order is "none".
Do I have to select "lower field" here too?

btw: source material is dv-cam, pal, 4:3, 25fps an the final result shall be a dvd for tv-use.

thanks in advance and all the best, tristan

Is this a question about DVD Architect?

I would not recommend bringing raw footage into DVD Architect.

You'll get much better performance and results if you bring your raw video files into Vegas and then output a DVD-ready or BluRay-ready file to DVD Architect. Then you don't have to worry about conforming the video's interlacing or format, since Vegas has already done it for you.

DV AVI is always lower field first. Make sure everything matches that or else you may lose quality. The DVD MPEG2 created by DVDA should also be LFF. (DVDs are allowed to have either field order.)

Steve's comment is sound. You should always try to feed DVDA with media in a format that it doesn't have to re-encode. The video and audio should also be in separate files.

also changed to lower field first in dvda - the difference is amazing!
