Field order problems on BMD 8-bit Quicktime

I'm stumped. I have what appears to be a lower field first BMD 8-bit uncompressed Quicktime. I place it on a LLF timeline and render to MPEG-2 and I get the herkey jerkeys. I change the field order of the clip and render and more shakes. I change the field order of the MPEG in DVDA, and the clip still shakes.

I take the same clip and run it through Compressor and all is right with the (field order) world. Can anyone out there toss me a clue as to why this might be happening?

Which version of Vegas are you using?
I've seen something like this a long time ago with QT captures using the BMD deck control program. For some reason the field order seemed to flip in the middle of a clip where there was fast motion so no matter which way around you had the field order it wouldn't help.
