Fighting the faders on a BCF2000

I installed a Behringer BCF2000 for an audio control surface for Vegas Pro 8.0b.

I followed the excellent instructions that have been posted in the Sony forum on how to do this, and everything went well.

But then I get to using it. If I'm doing audio envelopes on tracks with it from scratch, it works great, I set my levels as it plays, the envelopes are formed, I play it back, the sliders move with the envelopes and all is well.

But then I try to do some corrections. When I start it playing, because the faders are moving based on the existing envelopes that have already been created, they fight me if I try to do any corrections.

I don't want to break them. But either they'll really fight me, and not even necessarily take the changes even if I force the sliders, or sometimes they won't fight me, and they will accept the changes.

But I can't seem to figure out what the trick is so they don't fight me when I try to make changes to audio envelopes that have already been created.

I tried it in both Automation Write (Touch) and Automation Write (Latch) with the same problem in both.

What's the secret???

Thanks.
