Figured it Out: Metering and mixer levels question

Problem was a combination of surround panning stereo signals (rather than mono) in the non-LFE channels and the choice of panning mode making the non-LFE levels not what I intended. All working fine now, getting identical levels when I intend to.

Trying to generate some 5.1 test signals at identical levels.
80 Hz sine wave at -20dBFS. If I send it to, say, the Front Left output I get one level (say -20 dB) on the surround mixer.

If I send it to the LFE channel (with low pass filtering turned off, all track effects off, everything off, all gains set to 0) I get a much lower level on the surround mixer. What gives? Does Vegas have 10 dB (or more) attenuation built into the LFE channel? I assume these are peak meters? Or are they something funky like VU?

thanks team,
rocky
