File Error "The selected file is not of the"

I am trying to set up a new Single Movie in DVDA Pro 5.2. I open the video media from the folder where it is stored. The file name has an extension of ".mpg" with its associated audio file in the same folder has the same file name with an extension of ".ac3"

I get the following file error message "The selected file is not of the required type". I rendered the file as Main Concept MPEG 2 in Vegas Pro 10.e (64 bit). When I try to open other files from previous projects that I know worked, they get the same error message.

When I click on the mpg file, the information section at the bottom of the "Open Media" window says:
File type: unknown

When I click on the ac3 file, the information section says:
File type: Dolby AC-3
Streams: 1
Audio 48,000Hz, Stereo
Length 00:04:.28

The "Open: box a the bottom of the "Open Media" window says "Video and audio streams."

Make sure you have selected the correct type of project in DVD Architect.
Render the mpeg file again using the appropriate DVD Architect template.

Thank you Musicvid for your reply.

I went back to Vegas and did a:
Render As
Main Concept MPEG-2
Template = DVD Architect NTSC Video Stream

Then I opened DVD Architect Pro ver 5.2 (build 124)

From the File menu:
Selected New

From the New Project Window
Selected Single Movie
Disc format: DVD
Project wideo format: MPEG2 720X480 60i 4:3 (NTSC)
Project audio: AC-3 stereo
Press OK

From Open Media Window
Selected (file name).mpg

The information at the bottom still show "File type Unknown"

I press the Open button anyway and I still get the "File Error" message.

I go to the Windows Explorer and bring up the Folder where the MPEG file lives. I select it and the file shows in the preview window. I press play, and it works just fine.

I tried restarting the PC, but we had the same problem.

OK PROBLEM SOLVED.

I went to the Software updates part of the Support pages and downloaded the latest version. 5.2 (build 133) and now all is working just fine. I am not convinced that Architect needed an update as much as I think that it just needed to be reloaded. Something must have gotten corrupted.

Now when I select the MPG file, the information at the bottom of the Open Media Window shows the File Type correctly.

Hope that this helps someone.
