I posted a topic a couple of weeks ago regarding size of captured files and my inability to move the files to another drive after capturing. I had a few answers that helped. In the options, preferences setting in the "capture video" windows one can limit the file size to just under 2 gigs. This solved my problem for capture. Prior to this it would capture 4 gig files that displayed file size in windows explorer with a "-" sign in front of the file size. These files are unmovable, though readable.
The problem I am now having is in regard to rendering back to NTSC .avi files after editing. My project untimately will consist of 7 15-25 minute interviews that I want to copy directly to VHS without pausing between the interviews. I figure this is about 40 gig of files. I'd like to store the rendered files off line until the project is completed...When I render each interview (say 25 min) I generate two files. The first file is 4 gig, and the second is a smaller value. The first file has the same problem that I mentioned in the first paragraph: displayes size with a -number, and the second file will as well if it is over 2 gig. Unlike capture, I cannot find any setting to allow VV3 to write a continuous series of files that top out at 2 gig/file. I've searched high and low, read the full manual, etc. and can't find the answer. Perhaps I'm just blind!
The whole issue is confusing anyway because I thought fat32, Win98SE should be able to deal with 4 gig files???? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Short of "breaking" my edited files into 9 minute chunks and rendering each individually I cannot think of an answer. That's a road I wish not to travel...
