bumping this up in hopes someone else who's interested might see it
Lately I have been in the unfortunate position of having both Vegas and system re-installs on my hands-
Anything that would ease the setup process would be most welcome
Saving and re-instating preferences is easily accomplished in Photoshop, for instance, but it is not obvious to me what files in Vegas would do this ...

See this post:

Which file are preferences stored in?

Answer given there: They are stored in the registry.

Well John, thanks for that , but poor Nick never really got his answer and after searching around in the registry myself - I realize that the answer (unless someone has some real specifics) is negative - On to more interesting things, I guess.....

fultro,

>> -favorites folders

This is stored in a file named ExplorerFavorites.txt in your Application Data folder. This folder isn't visible until you enable "Show hidden files and folders" in the Windows Explorer (Tools | Options | View).

For Vegas 6, you'll find this file in

C:\Documents and Settings\<username> \Application Data\Sony\Vegas\6.0

where <username> is your login name. You can copy the favorites file from ...\Vegas\6.0 to ...\ACID Pro\5.0 if you want to use the same settings in ACID, for example.

The favorites file is not deleted when you uninstall Vegas though (unlike prefs which are removed).
