Files From EX3 In Vegas Pro 8, How To Render?

Jay Gladwell wrote on 12/2/2008, 9:21 AM

When shooting with the EX3, I use the 1920 x 1080p format. Bring the files (MFX) into Vegas, no problem. The project is set to the same format (1080p).

However, when I want to Render to New Track (or simply render a corrected clip), what setting should I use? I found the "Sony MFX" option but there's no option for 1080p--only 1080i.

How does one get around the interlacing?

TIA

As you shot progressive it'll stay progressive. Vegas will just split the frames into fields which can be merged back into frames. That's assuming you shot 25p or 30p. I haven't tested 24p.
Probably bigger issue is that's going to also mean the footage will be encoded again loosing quality. If you really need to do what you're asking about probably worth looking at an intermediate codec like Cineform.

Thank you, Bob.

Ouch! Cineform is a tad more expensive than I expected it to be! I presuem Neo HD is the one I would get, is that correct?

Yes,
I believe you need Neo HD for Full HD (1920x1080).

I know, not exactly cheap, we have a Prospect 2K licence, glad that didn't come out of my pocket. The licence does give you three seats though and I think for both Mac and PC.

Don't really use Cineform with Vegas myself, those that do report never having a problem with Vegas even when just about everyone else was having things go crash in the night.

If I nest the veggie from the edited/corrected segment in the current project's timeline, will that eliminate any image loss?
