Hmmmm...

I'm at a loss with this concept.

I have not heard of a film look. Do you mean the quality of say a film I can see at my local cinema? Do you mean the high-end type of film you see on TV adverts? Ben Hur? El Cid? Is it the quality of the film stock? The lighting? We could get into the debate about DV versus chemical film stock? DV versus Analogue? Aren't more and more films being shot on DV?

Or am I missing the "plot" on this one. With all the debate about "treatments" to film - PiP or whatever... Should we not also be debating the quality and effectiveness of film making. This is what gets me going, anyway. Y'know the old concepts of pace, audience, emotions, interest and message etc.

But a SW package that gives one the "feel" of a movie? Now I'm interested.

There are plug ins available for Premiere that will do this, but none of these work with Videofactory or Vegas. Film looks like film for dozens of different reasons. The dirt flecks and scratches are just part of it. Other attributes include: 24 fps rather than 29.97 fps (gives film more flicker); film grain; film lattitude (can render highlights and shadows more faithfully); gate jump (each frame of film nestles into the film gate in a slightly different place from its previous frame thus causing a shot of a fixed object to bounce up and down slightly); non-interlace vs. interlace (film is, of course, not interlaced).

I'm sure there are more items. The point of this list is to point out that simulating the film look correctly requires a lot more than simply adding a few dust marks and scratches. Here is a link to the user manual for the plug-in that creates the film look:
