Vegas is not a rough-cutting tool. This isn't to say that it never, ever, ever will have offline/online capabilities, but to do it right is a huge job, so don't hold your breath.

Doing is wrong, or part-way, like a bunch of the competition, is not an option.

I'm just a curious user here wanting to learn ... could you give me a quick explanation of what film matchback is? Thanks!

?? if you shot on FILM .. then went to DVCAM ( most film to tape houses do NOT transfer to DV ) and had FLEX files ( contains negative #'s and SMPTE time code of all you just transferred) of all that info.

next edit on VV spit out a EDL list ( you would have to ask transfer house what EDL type they prefer -- VV would have to be FRAME accurate from capture thru all editing to EDL list ) ... now take that EDL list and your FLEX files down to the place you had your film transferred - feed it all into their system and they might be able to come up with the NEGATIVE conforming #'s ... remember you are limited to CUTS and X'# frame dissolves ( you have to check with your film lab on what their standard lengths of disolves ) ..... try calling your FILM to TAPE house and ask em about it !

To SonicEPM:

Which competition are you referring to? I only know of Avid Xpress DV implementing matchback capabilities.
