FilmFX to support Vegas and working on other things for it

Subject -FilmFX-

Just got an e-mail reply back from a message that I sent to them to see if they plan on supporting it and this is what they said

"We are currently working on a variety of things for Vegas. We are big fans of Vegas and can't wait to get these things out there. Keep an eye on our website for more info."

My original email question -

"I do not see any support for Vegas are you planning on supporting it any time soon, I have Premiere and Vegas both but I much prefer to use it with Vegas as it more powerful in my opinion and more importantly stable could you please let me know if you will be supporting it any time soon. There are thousands of users of it that would gobble this up in a heart beat if it was available for Vegas I know I talk with them regularly on the Vegas forums and they would die to have it. (In Vegas)"

If you are not familiar with them they make an awesome plug-in for "P" and "AE" it simply rocks for creating a very close look to film and they have tons of film presets Like Fugi F-C1 Kodak Vision series plus some special effect types like "Saving Private Ryan" type of feel for your clips and it is animateable too.
This is great news considering "Boris" announced support for Vegas too looks like Vegas has started to get everyone's attention now!

This is TERRIFIC news. Needing to use FilmFX is the only reason I get into Premiere anymore. This will allow me to just delete Premiere altogether.

Dumb question: What does FilmFX do?

"FilmFX 2.35 is the most cost effective way to get the expensive look of film on a video budget.

FilmFX 2.35 boasts thousands of improvements over the popular original. Color curves. Gamma control. Unsurpassed color correction and matching. Extensive grain parameters. Anamorphic wide screen conversion. Old Film effects. Gate weave for compositing. The list goes on."

Well I know Vegas does alot of the color correction but it has a usable old film type effects, hate to say it but Vegas's are cheesy much better it has a bunch film type presets the color time and give that Film type look almost. It is way cool.

There web site ain't the best but the pluggin rocks!

BigFX FilmFX is another of the 'film look' plug-ins on the market. One big plus between the Cinelook plug-ins and the BigFX FilmFX plug-ins is the render time. For me personally I also like the ease of use with settings. In Premiere you set the look you want and than can adjust it further, with After Effects you can set either the look or the, if you will, film effects together or seperate. The main idea with this is that you can match footage - you shot on film and then need to add some small pick up shots say. So you pick out the type of film stick you shot on and add that 'look' to your video footage.

IMHO the BigFX FilmFX was the best 'film look' plug-in out there until this year when Magic Bullet 1.1 hit the market. However - render time is an issue with Magic Bullet, like it is with the cinelook plug-ins. Magic Bullet manages to deal with the blacks a hell of a lot better though so the trade off might well be worth it for you. Having said that however, I like the way VV handles the 30 - 24 as much, if not better, than Magic Bullet. And with a little tweaking I am happy with the 'film look' I can get from VV 4.0b. Having the BigFX FilmFX presets for film stock would be awesome though.

FilmFX sure rocks but as an amateur, I think I'd put the $500 somewhere else and continue using V4 film fx. I mean, I can get a new mobo+cpu with for that sum!
Uless they release it with a special offer. A "very" special offer in fact.

But from a professionnal standpoint, like I said, it sure rocks and is cheaper than Boris (if you just get it for a "film look" application that is...) .

Would have to agree here...FilmFX is very nice and a quick n easy solution, but with the knowledgable use of color curves, color correction and subtle blur/grain/glow in Vegas you can pull off the same look with more control in Vegas itself ....if you can think beyond the preset mentality ;)
When the cost of the plugin is more than Vegas itself, I can't see it as more than a pro tool, but heres to hoping they price it nicely for the Vegas market as it is a good option!

I am an amateur and deal just with my home movies, so I am limited in how much I can spend on extras for this already great software (Vegas4). But if what Zendorf says is true, isn't it possible for some of you more experienced users to just write a script to do this for any given video clip? I have been trying out some of the available scripts and they seem almost limitless in their ability to make editing a little bit easier.

Scripts can't adjust effects yet. But then again, you don't need scripting at all to accomplish what you want. Just use the Plug-In chain and save a preset for later use.
