Filters

WestsideSteve wrote on 10/2/2023, 6:49 AM

Hi everybody. Just recently started delving into some of the new effects. I have Vegas Pro 21 and clicked on the filters folder and didn't see any. Is that a different version I need or an add-on pack?

I see a lot of ads for aftermarket sets of effects. Is it ethical to ask about them here?

Thanks

What "filters" folder?

Perhaps some screenshots would help. Here's what I see on the VideoFX tab.

Here is a screen shot of what Video fx are included...

I will go crank up the studio cat this afternoon and look that up. According to my hazy memory it was under a heading with three letters that I believe started with a u.

Is it a third party effect? I believe Red Giant Universe has the prefix that starts with a "u", such as uni.Screen Text.

No, I will go downstairs in a little bit open it up and either screenshot or type it out. There is a folder called filters under the subheading but when I click on it nothing happens.true.

Screenshot is always better, even if more than one is included.

If you add an effect by clicking on the FX button on an event, there's a folder called "Filter Packages". That is empty by default but you can add your own packages there. Those packages can also be shared but you need the "Preset Manager" application to do that.

That does make sense. I'm surprised Vegas doesn't have a catalog of their own filters in that folder .

@WestsideSteve Because they're already in a folder..

Absolutely, I was thinking of different types of preset filters. The guy you might get with face app or deep art FX. I know a lot of aftermarket guys sell packages of those. That's probably the folder I would install those and I guess. Thanks.

Yes that's the screenshot and that's the folder. Filter packages. Thanks. I'm guessing if I buy some aftermarket filter packages that's where they go..

Plugins should come with instructions for installation (and usually installers). Just be sure they are compatible with VEGAS- not all OFx ones work.
