I'm finally thinking of upgrading to vegas5/DVDA2, bu I have a question. My question is I have vegas 4.0 by sonic foundry, now I will be upgrading to vegas 5b, Do I have to remove vegas 4? If not will I have any problems? Right now my computer works fine with vegas 4 but I have concerns about installing vegas 5 and my pc not working. Thanks to all.

4 and 5 can both be installed at they same time and both will be usable. They do not conflict with each other.

Thanks jetdv, I will try that. Do they have to be put on different drives?

How do I use Magic Bullet? Is it a plug-in? Once it's installed what do I do to use it?

Thanks again.

Is movie looks a script? How do I use movie looks, does it have to be filmed in 24p?

Thanks response appreciated.

Cervama,
Just remember a couple things.
You can open a veg file From V4 in V5 but if you save it in V5 you cannot open it in V4.
You cannot open any V5 veg's in V4
If you want to open up a veg file from V4 in V5 then do a "SAve As" (with a different name) and then you can open up the original in V4.

Just a little heads up...
it will warn you about this but some people miss it.
And I know you said you were planning on keeping V4 for "Mrs-vama"

As for Magic Bullet: you asked: "Once it's installed what do I do to use it?"
Apply the MB effect
purchase:
1 a really comfortable chair.(you can actually start shopping for this right after you hit the render button)

2 a deck of playing cards(play 10 rounds of solitaire)

3 and a volume of encyclopedia's(read them cover to cover)

and your 5 min clip should be ...just about halfway done rendering .
actually the results are nice, but you can get much faster renders with plugs like Ultimate S.
Good luck and enjoy V5!

Ultimate E

If you are talking about the movie looks from VASST, yes it is a script. You can modify your toolbar so that a Movie Looks script becomes a button on your tool bar. They are pretty easy to work with.

No, it doesn't have to be 24p. Movie Looks can convert to 24p/widescreen for you.

Magic Bullet, once you install it, acts just like a regular video effect.

Thanx, but is magic bullet really that slow? So does that mean a 40 minute video will take about the time armageddong happens?
busterkeaton wrote on 12/7/2004, 6:18 PM
I think a Magic Bullet render of 40 mins of video would definitely be an overnight affair.

I read here somewhere that Magic Bullet took 30 minutes to render 30 seconds of video. That's one minute of render time for one second of video. Forty minutes of video is equal to 2,400 seconds. So it would take Magic Bullet 2,400 minutes to render 40 minutes of video. That's 40 hours total render time. (Is my math right?)

This is why I've never used Magic Bullet.

Jay, you're thinking too hard; you don't even have to do math for that. There are 60 seconds in a minute and 60 seconds in an hour, so if 1 second of video takes 1 minute to render, then 1 minute takes 1 hour. 40 minutes worth of video would take 40 hours to render, etc. All you have to do is change "seconds" to "minutes" or "minutes" to "hours".
Jay Gladwell wrote on 12/8/2004, 6:21 AM
LOL -- no wonder time flies for you, Kelly, if your hours only have 60 seconds in them! ;o)

Math, in any form, was NEVER my strong suit! You ought see me trying to figure out hours, minutes, frames in the edit!

You guys are too much, you need your own show. It would probably be better than reality shows. ;)

Oops. Slight typo there. I meant to say "60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour".

Math has always been second nature for me. My mom says i tought myself how to multiply numbers when i was about three years old. My wife gets very annoyed that i don't get annoyed with math. Then again, she appreciates the fact that when she's working on the bills, she can just call out a bunch of numbers and i'll tell her the sum without needing a calculator or even pencil & paper.
