finding "lost" soundfx

I recently purchased VEGAS MOVIE STUDIO 9 PLATINUM PRO PACK which incudes 1001 sound effects. After locating the sound effects and moving them into my music folder I brought a couple into my timeline to hear them. Then the next time I went into the software I noticed that all the sound effects that I had played with the previous day I could'nt open. Instead a message pops up saying "An error occured while opening one or more files. The file is an unsupported format." Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

When you open a file in Movie Studio, it creates a peak image file with the same name but a .sfk extension.

Next time you open a file in the folder, you must take care to open the original sound file, not the .sfk file with the same name.

I am really computer illiterate. could you explain to me what a peak image file is and a .sfk extension. and where to find them? Also how can I undo my mistake? Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks

You haven't made a mistake.

You will have two files with the same name.
Open the one that works, and ignore the one that doesn't work.
Other places on the web can give you basic instruction in using Windows.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the help. I'll see if I can locate the file. Would you know if it would it be in the same folder as the others or if its been moved to another? Hate to be a pain. Thanks.

The .sfk files are created in the same folder as the original sound or movie files.
Other than learning not to click on them but on the correct media file with the same name, you need not concern yourself with them any further.

For further help, consult any of the excellent basic tutorials on Windows, accessible through a web search.
