Firebox Compatible?

I purchased a Presonus Firebox and when I select it under Vegas' Options/Audio Device, it tells me it's not compatible. The Salesman said it would be. The only way I can get Vegas (or Sound Forge) to play sound is to select "Microsoft Sound Mapper". Does anyone know if this is compatible or not. If not, does anyone have any receommendations for a similar 24-bit recording studio style external audio device that is comaptible with Vegas? Thanks

I heard back in Vegas 4.0 that presonus units don't work well with Vegas. Has anybody seen delivery dates of the new Echo Firewire units?

I know someone that has used a firepod with great results using ver 5 & 6 - which version of vegas are you running?

Have you tried to re-install the drivers for the firebox?

The Firebox that I had received was defective and the retailer is currently shipping me a replacement. The tech staff at Presonus claims that it works great with Vegas 4 & 5, - 6 hasn't been tested yet but they don't think it should have any problems with 6.0 (I have 6.0a) I only had the Firebox for a week and I will say that when it did work, the audio clarity and volume was better than any Audigy I ever heard - it was fantastic. - Thanks for the replies!
