Firewire bus card adapter doesn't work

Hey all,
I've had this problem since I got my camcorder (canon zr800 )
That's when I learned about my bus card.
Recently I found a new product to solve this, it's a usb to firewire data transfer cable on ebay. Has anybody seen or heard of this?
If so, could you let me know if it really works.
Thanks much,
Jim.

You can't do a FireWire capture over a USB connection, even with an adaptor, SS.

You need a true FireWire connection between your tape-based camcorder and your computer.

Fortunately, at least for desktop computers, IEEE-1394 cards are relatively cheap and very easy to install.

Maybe you've got a bum card or a bad cable or a burned out port. You can probably get another card from newegg.com in the under $10 range and a cable for under $5. I'd give that a try.

As Steve menioned, if it's not really actual firewire all the way from the camcorder to the computer it won't work.

Thanks for the replys you guys.
I've tryed 3 different cards and 2 cords so it must be my port for my card.

Have you tried the camera on another computer? You could have a bad firewire connection on your camera.
