firewire card compatibility

I have ordered the new Vegas VIdeo 4.0, and I was wondering what brand and maybe even model of a 1394 card worked the best with the Vegas Video products. Or if you have had problems with the compatibility of your card; what that is so I will not buy that one also. Thank you.

I have had three firewire cards. A SIG an Orange and a TI. They all had the same problem. I was told to get a different firewire card. I upgraded the BIOS on the motherboard of my Dell Dimension and all the cards work fine!!

ADS and SIIG are both OHCI compliant cards. Have one of each in my machines and they work without a hitch.

$40 - $50 per card.

I can recommend the Adaptec Fireconnect cards. Works fine for preview through the camera, but I have had some isues with capturing but that's most probably down to a fairly slow machine (a K6III at 450mhz).

The SOFO knowledgebase has an article or three listing what to look for, even down to the chipset numbers in some cases.
