As long as the Firewire card is Texas Instrument OHCI compliant IEEE1394, it will work fine. I am using a no-name generic card that cost $19.95 (US) with good results.
Can't go wrong with Pyro or SIIG. There is no need to install any software that comes with those cards. In fact, it is reccomended that you do not do anything except install the card and reboot (and let Windows assign the driver)
Thanks Guys. By the way do any of you have experiance with analog signals and getting them on your PC as well. Is there different hardwary you would recommend for this?
I would recommend using your digital camcorder to capture analog signals through its inputs and then transfer to the computer via Firewire. Unless you are going to spend tons of money, I think analog capture solutions for the PC are poor.
